Playing at the Star

Mar 17, 2019 | Weekly Update

I was glad to get the Spring Quarter kicked off on Tuesday of this week. It was good to see students walking around campus and  parking lots filling up with cars. I spent the first part of the week on campus in planning meetings. I welcomed Mayor Ronny Walker and his staff to meet with me and my staff to work through some of the details on upcoming projects and to discuss other projects for the future. We enjoy working with this team and figuring out how we can leverage each other to make this a greater college town.

Kathy and I stopped in Bossier City for meetings at our Academic Success Center and then departed after lunch to go to Frisco, TX to attend the Conference USA tournament. This is a great venue for our conference and for Louisiana Tech. When we got there, we saw a lot of Tech students and alumni. The Lady Techsters wrapped their season up in the first round of the tourney, and the Bulldogs wrapped theirs up in a heart-breaking second-round one-point loss to top seeded ODU. I am very proud of both teams and am grateful for all of our Tech fans who showed up for the games.

Kathy and I returned back to campus on Friday in time to make it out to the Love Shack to watch the Diamond Dogs play in their first conference game of the season.
