Making space for Veterans, VISTA and Champ

Nov 3, 2018 | Weekly Update

On Thursday of this week, we were pleased to join with Bossier Parish Community College in cutting the ribbon for our new Veterans Resource Center as well as classrooms, offices and study spaces in our Bossier Center. This 20,000 sf fourth floor provides us with a technology-rich learning environment for programs that we are offering in the Bossier community. It complements the 10,000 sf Academic Success Center and Cyber Training Center in the first floor. Chancellor Rick Bateman and I also signed an MOU and 9 program articulation agreements that establish pathways for BPCC students to move into 4-year degrees offered by Louisiana Tech. We had a great turnout of community leaders there to celebrate the day.

Kathy and I also joined some faculty, students and friends at the home of Jack and Coni Fisher on Thursday evening for a fund-raising event for VISTA. The VISTA faculty have established some excellent interdisciplinary courses that are organized in minors to offer our students unique learning opportunities and potential careers in visual integration of science and art. I am thrilled with this effort and believe that it has great potential for national prominence and impacts.

The rest of the week was full of meetings and events. Hope you enjoy the pics:
