Coming Home for Homecoming

Homecoming is always a special week on the Tech campus. The campus is full activities all week, and it is hard to take everything in. I had to miss quite a few early week activities as I had to be out on the road through Wednesday. On Sunday and Monday, I was in Dallas for a Conference USA Board meeting and then drove to Baton Rouge late Monday for committee meetings. On Tuesday, I had three different state-wide research committees at the Claiborne Building, two of which I serve as Chair. Then, on Wednesday morning, I attended a University of Louisiana System Finance Committee meeting. I was eager to come home for the remainder of Homecoming Week after that.
Thursday was filled with meetings with my senior leadership team, staff and prospective students. I also worked on my remarks for special alumni events on Friday and Saturday. I usually arrive to work early, and on this Friday morning, I enjoyed a special walk around campus soaking up the beauty, history and tradition of our campus in an early morning light.
I met with the College of Business Advisory Board before heading over to the DAC for the Distinguished Alumni Awards luncheon. Friday evening, we returned to the DAC to welcome the Class of 1968 into the Golden Society. There were so many of our close friends in that class. And we enjoyed seeing them again on Saturday morning for breakfast. They made it very clear that they were thrilled to be back “Home” for Homecoming. And the Dogs’ win over the UTEP Miners capped of a great Homecoming game.
I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite pics for the week.
