It was good to be in the office this week where I was able to meet with members of my leadership team, deans and faculty in developing plans for next year. I also had the opportunity to visit with several students, alumni and friends in my office.
Kathy and I hosted the Student Athlete Advisory Council at our house on Monday evening and enjoyed getting to know them better while learning more about their college experiences. These students provide excellent leadership for our athletics program.
It was a pleasure to have lunch with Coach E.J. Lewis and his family on Tuesday. AD Tommy McClelland, Teddy Allen and Marco Born shared some images of the new pressbox and suites project for Joe Aillet Stadium and then surprised Coach with an image of the sign for the Home Coaches box that will bear the names of Patsy and E.J. Lewis. Patsy and E.J. have impacted so many of our students and alumni over the years and we know they have been a key part of Tech’s success. Special thanks to those alumni and friends who contributed to this effort.
On Tuesday evening, Kathy and I attended the SGA annual banquet recognizing the out-going officers and installing the in-coming officers. We have been blessed with outstanding student leaders who continue to organize programs and activities that have significant impacts on our campus and in our community. Special thanks to Mackenzie Potts who has been an outstanding servant leader as SGA President.
On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Ruston Rotary Club. Later in the week, I joined Gary Stokley in a radiothon segment with Bob Day raising funds for DART in order to raise awareness and fight against domestic abuse and violence. Thanks to Terrie Autrey for her leadership in this effort and for giving us the opportunity to participate.
Here are a few of my favorite pics for the week:
