Who’s Who 2017 leaders recognized Monday eve
There were a couple of short trips for me this week. I met Monday morning in Baton Rouge with my ULS president colleagues and System President Jim Henderson. This was our initial meeting with Jim at the helm and I have great confidence that he will provide excellent leadership for our system and higher education. On Wednesday morning, I went to Alexandria to attend a state-wide Board of Regents Forum focused on game-changing ideas for enhancing student success. Tech had excellent representation of faculty from across our campus.
On Tuesday, I hosted senior leaders from Purdue’s Discovery Park and the Global Security and Defense Institute to discuss potential research collaborations. Such research collaborations with premier research universities across the nation are made possible because of Tech’s national research stature and our association with defense-related partners.

Overflow crowd at DAC for Signing Day
On Wednesday morning, we had a meeting of our Louisiana Tech Research Corporation board that oversees some of Tech’s intellectual property and partnership activities. After several other meetings with my leadership team, I went to the DAC to meet with alumni and hear from Coach Skip Holtz about our signing day results.
Friday evening, Kathy and I enjoyed a great event at Squire Creek recognizing College of Engineering and Science Distinguished Alumni. It is wonderful to hear about their stories of their time at Tech and how that shaped their professional careers and success in life. The rest of the week-end will be filled with alumni association activities, Legacy Day campus visits for prospective students, bulldog basketball and more.
