A new "Prez" and a final "Presents"

Jul 29, 2016 | Weekly Update

This week began for me in Baton Rouge as I had to attend various meetings. On Monday, we had a major research meeting related to a state-wide NSF grant on materials and manufacturing that includes several Tech faculty and students. I am proud of the leadership provided by our faculty in this major consortium project. On Tuesday, I attended the University of Louisiana System Board meeting in which my friend Rick Gallot was named Grambling State University President. I look forward to working with President Gallot to advance higher education in Lincoln Parish and the State of Louisiana. On Wednesday, I had two committee meetings at the Board of Regents including the Regents’ Support Fund Planning and EPSCoR committees. It was good to get back on campus Thursday to participate in the “Big Tech Welcome” to our final Orientation students and families. Each Orientation session this summer eclipsed previous year totals in attendance which gives us optimism for another great freshman class this Fall. Special thanks to our entire Admissions team and Orientation Student Leaders who made these sessions a huge success. They have truly been amazing in what they have accomplished! Hope you enjoy some of my favorite pictures for the week.
