Global IT partner CSC to make a major impact on the region

Governor announces CSCOn Tuesday, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the establishment of a Computer Sciences Corporation (known as CSC) Technology Center in Bossier City at the Cyber Innovation Center, bringing 800 direct high-tech jobs to Northwest Louisiana. This will truly be transformational for the region. With Fortune 200 CSC as one anchor and Fortune 150 CenturyLink as the other, and add to that numerous small entrepreneurial technology companies in between, the I-20 corridor is becoming a hotbed of growth and opportunity.  Over the next few years, we can expect more such companies to make northern Louisiana their home.  This means great things for the prosperity of our citizens, and particularly for our children, who will have the opportunity to work for world-class technology companies right here in Louisiana. CSC AnnouncementThere are many who contributed significantly to make this happen, and as I said at the press conference, this effort represented an unprecedented collaboration between public-private, government, academic, and industry partners. I deeply appreciate the strong and sustained leadership of Bossier Mayor Lo Walker and CIC Director Craig Spohn who have worked tirelessly and with tremendous passion and commitment to make this happen. There is a lot of work remaining to be done and it is imperative that we demonstrate that we can meet the needs of these companies by providing them with an exceptional next-generation workforce.  Our administrators and faculty have already begun the process of recruiting students to meet these needs.  We will also be working with LED Faststart, CIC, and others to recruit some from out of state who may want to return back home for great job opportunities. We will be describing the related opportunities on our new Advanced Cyber Education web page. Be sure to check back periodically.
