This week began with warnings about a significant icing event. Our Emergency Response Team met on Monday afternoon and after hearing about the likelihood of dangerous driving conditions impacting the area, we decided to close campus for Tuesday. Tuesday turned out to be fairly uneventful until later in the day and that evening when things turned worse than expected. With significant icing on roadways, we decided to continue to keep the campus closed until Thursday morning. While the disruptions were inconvenient, we did have some beautiful scenes around campus.
The weather impacted everyone’s schedules for the week. We had to postpone a visit from our campus master planners who were scheduled to be on campus to present some preliminary observations.
Jeremy Davis & the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra weathered the storm and traveled from their home in Savannah to make it to their performance in Howard Auditorium on Thursday evening. Led by Tech alumni Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson, the orchestra warmed up the audience with an outstanding performance. We appreciate their continued interests in returning back home where it all began. Special thanks to all who contributed to the School of the Performing Arts fundraiser.
