From the desk of President Leslie K. Guice
A final note about week 1
Kathy and I just returned from a trip to Houston for a visit with two of our sons and their wives and to pick up some furniture for our upcoming move into the President’s House on Bulldog Drive. The house is undergoing some refurbishments and it will be a few weeks before we can make the move. A special thanks to Connie Howard and others who are contributing time, talents, and resources to make this a special place for functions for alumni, faculty, staff, and campus guests. Sarah Eddington of the Monroe News-Star did an excellent job in her article about the future of Tech following my meeting with her on Wednesday. http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2013307030043 The News-Star also ran a nice editorial opinion piece in Sunday’s paper. http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20130707/OPINION01/307070036/Our-View-Best-person-job I’m very appreciative for the support of our regional media outlets and, more importantly, I’m proud for all Louisiana Tech students, faculty, staff, alums, and supporters who have helped to lift Tech up to a level of excellence where Tech is earning region-wide and nation-wide attention. I’ll always do what I can to tout the achievements of your university, on your behalf. I believe it is very important for everyone to understand what an important role Tech plays in advancing education and economic opportunities for the citizens of Louisiana.
